Genetic Counselor
Duties and Responsibilities:
Genetic Counselor work at hospitals,
universities, laboratories and private clinics. They are trained to analyze
genetic data and communicate risk factors to patients and their families. Genetic
Counselor are trained in the following:
Ø Analyze patient histories
Ø Provide genetic testing
Ø Perform genetic risk calculations
Ø Educate families about health risks
Ø Help patients to cope with a diagnosis
Average Salary: $25,000-$55,000
Educational Requirements:
Those people who are interested in
being a Genetic Counselor you must complete a master’s degree . Students can
prepare for admission with undergraduate courses in chemistry, biology, genetics
and psychology. Schools may require or strongly recommend volunteer experience
prior to enroll in a better program.
I wouldn’t want to be a Genetic
Counselor because I am not interested but it has really nice thing but for
someone who really want to be one not like me. Well to me it sound boring.
